Update: Megan has a foster!

by Mimi Dietderich on January 30, 2015

Fostered stamp 2

megan

Name: Megan
Age: 6 months
Breed: Chihuahua mix
Foster Period: 3 weeks

Meet Megan! She was brought in to us as a stray and was one of the many parvo puppies that we have enter our care every year. Luckily Megan recovered and is doing infinitely better. Megan will need to be in foster for the next few weeks to await her next medical appointment in the middle of February. Aside from her episode with parvo Megan has been anemic and has been receiving regular iron injections and blood tests to check on her progress. We are hoping that her next appointment will also be her last and then Megan will be able to find her forever home on our adoption floor! If you are interested in taking Megan home for the next few weeks please let us know and we would love to introduce you to her!

Update: Shiloh and Oreo have foster homes!

by Mimi Dietderich on January 29, 2015

Fostered stamp 2

shiloh

Name: Shiloh
Age: 5 months
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Foster Period: ~6 weeks

Shiloh is no stranger to our foster system! This beautiful cat originally came to us wounded by another animal and unable to walk on one of her legs. It was not broken but an infection had quickly spread to her bone. Slowly but surely Shiloh’s began to heal and not only will use her formerly injured leg but has also become quite the cuddle bug. When she first came to us Shiloh was extremely under socialized and would hiss, growl and and be nothing more than tolerant of our presence. Now, after the work with dedicated fosters, Shiloh will purr, play and solicit attention like any other cat! She has come a long way but will need several more weeks in a home on antibiotics to treat her remaining bone infection. Shiloh will not be able to go to a home with other cats but would make a wonderful addition to any home. If you are interested in fostering a cat who sees the saucer as half full please consider Shiloh!

Fostered stamp 2

oreo

Name: Oreo
Age: 3 years and 6 months
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Foster Period: 2+ weeks

Although it was several years ago Oreo was also a former foster animal. Oreo originally came to us as an underage kitten and promptly went into a foster home. Upon her return she was quickly adopted but unfortunately this would not be her forever home. Oreo’s transition back to the shelter has not been an easy one for her and she has become increasingly stressed in this environment. Although she was social and playful with us in the past Oreo has become avoidant to handling and uncomfortable around other cats. We are hoping that a change of environment for Oreo will help her return to the once social and loving cat that we all remember her as. Oreo will need to go to a home without other animals and small children. If you would like to help this fantastic feline get back up on her four feet then please let us know and we would love to talk to you more about Oreo!
