Mocha and Alexis STILL need a fospice home

by Vanessa Molletti on May 18, 2017

Name: Mocha (top) and Alexis (bottom)
Age: 9 years old and 11 years old
Breed: Longhaired Dachshund
Fospice Period: 2-4 weeks

Mocha and Alexis are two wonderful dogs. They were surrendered 3 weeks ago and have been in the shelter waiting to get out. These guys came from a home that loved them, but was no longer able to care for their increasing medical needs. As we found out after their vet exams, these two have Cushing’s Disease. This would require a long road of regular veterinary care and was determined that humane euthanasia would be the best option for the quality of their lives.

These sweet dogs until this point, have only known household life. Their sweet-hearted nature still brings them to the front of their kennel with wagging tails whenever someone passes by. I have no doubt that they will acclimate well to nearly any home. Both of these guys are dog friendly, however Alexis seems the more likely one to be interested in other dogs, whereas Mocha prefers the company of human friends.

If you would like to make a friend or two, please reach out to us about these guys. They have lived a long and full life, and we would love for them to end it on high note, hopefully, with you!

The original post for Mocha and Alexis:

We recently had someone surrender 5 older Dachshunds because they could no longer provide them the care that they needed. We had hoped that we would be able to find forever homes for all 5 as they are extremely sweet dogs. Unfortunately, 2 out of the 5 ended up having Cushing’s syndrome which excludes them from becoming adoption candidates. These are some really, really sweet dogs and it breaks my heart that we won’t be moving forward with them. I’m hopeful that someone out there will be able to take the pair for at least a couple of weeks. Or even a two of homes willing to take one each. I just want to be able to get them out of the shelter, even if it’s for a short period of time.

Please let us know if you are available to take both… or either… of these wonderful dogs home.
